This started out as a hate letter to the owner of a business in Fort Myers, FL who cares more about money than his customers. But it turned into something different along the way-- a story about the empowerment of an abused person, and how easy it sometimes is to sink to the level of those who abuse.
lyrics
I picked a little town in Iowa
and didn't stop to pack the bags
I drove the back roads out of Fayetteville
to leave a husband in Fort Bragg
I didn't ever use a credit card
but I could've used a bodyguard
A little evil goes a long way
and I can say I've had my share
the day I met him was the wrong day
a little evil goes a long way
it goes a long way
There was a diner where I got a job
but the boss was such a bitch
He told me that I'd have to sleep with him
otherwise he'd have to snitch
I told him he could take a flying leap
or just go and find some friendly sheep
A little evil goes a long way
and I was on the run again
and I'll be running every damn day
until I shed this skin
A little evil goes a long way
it goes a long way
I can't play the victim anymore
ain't no way to live
A little evil goes a long way
and it was time to spread the sin
So I loosened up his wheels
and let him chase me again
As I watched him crash and burn
it was so easy to say
A little evil goes a long way
it goes a long way
it goes a long way
it goes a long way
